stewart's drums

A humble Yamaha Stage Custom Standard, in Matt Natural Wood. Here seen at rehearsal in a 7-piece setup: 9x10, 10x12, 11x13, 12x14 and 14x16" YESS-mounted toms, 17x22" bass drum. Single braced Yamaha 700 series hardware is excellent. An 8x8" tom completes the "menu" of drums to pick from to suit whatever situation arises.

Cymbals are Stagg. Left: 17 and 15" crashes, 8 and 10" splashes (all SH brilliant) and 13" DH brilliant Bite Hats. Right: 16" crash and 20" ride (SH brilliant), and a Wuhan 20" china. Yamaha DFP9410 (Flying Dragon) direct-drive pedal, HS1000 hi-hat stand, Gibraltar 9608OS throne. Evans EC2 "coated" batters (superb) and G1 clear resos on the toms.

The snare is another humble drum, a find from eBay: a Cannon (I think, the badge long since lost) 6.5x14" in maple, clear laquer. Hoops replaced with inexpensive die-casts and the broken throw replaced, Evans HD Dry batter and Hazy 300 snare heads and a set of 30-strand Puresound Metrix snares complete the upgrade. Oh yes.

Your humble host at the helm. I'd like to think of the facial expression as artistic intensity, lost in the moment. In reality, I've probably forgotten what comes next and am clinging to the vain hope that one of the other band members will bail me out by cocking something up. Either that or I'm losing a staring contest with a drum stick.

An alternative four-piece setup, seen here in the band for a "Broadway" style show at a local school.

This setup just uses the 10" and 14" toms, retuned a little to suit the situation. There's no muffling on anything, including the kick. Tom batter heads are Evans G2 coated.

Main cymbals here are the wonderful Istanbul Agop Sultans: 14" hats, 16" crash and 20" ride. Splashes are 10" SH brilliant and 12" regular from Stagg.
