Biography

Kayleigh began piano lessons at the age of five, followed by clarinet three years later. She started singing on joining St Peter's Church choir in Brackley aged nine, and later becoming Head Chorister and receiving both the RSCM Dean's and Bishop's awards. Singing became her main interest when, aged 16, she began studying with Meriel Dickinson. Kayleigh achieved ABRSM Grade 8 in voice and piano and Grade 6 in clarinet.

The annual Brackley Music Festival has seen Kayleligh make many appearances in both ensemble and solo performance. In 2008, Kayleigh gave an evening recital with Jennifer Hubble and Thomas Brady, and the following year sang an evening recital, The Art of Song, with Stuart Hubble. In 2010 it was the turn of Kayleigh's pupils singing in a lunchtime recital. Kayleigh sings regularly with the Brackley Jubilee choir, and has taken the soprano solo in the Durufle Requiem, Bernstein Chichester Psalms, Haydn Little Organ Mass, Karl Jenkins The Armed Man, and the Rutter Requiem amongst others.

In 2007 Kayleigh joined a local rock and soul band, singing backing and lead vocals. The band played in both the 2007 and 2008 Festivals and headlined a 2008 charity concert evening. She is now the musical director of the band, now known as Jive Honey, which gigs regularly for public and private functions.

While studying music at the University of Surrey, Kayleigh took singing lessons with Heather Keens who helped her develop her vocal technique, range and repertoire. Kayleigh was a member of the University Choir, Chamber Choir, Wind Band, and a close harmony group, The Crimson Singers. With the Chamber Choir Kayleigh sang solos in the 2007 Carol Service in Guildford Cathedral, the Benedictus in Haydn's Nelson Mass, and in Will Todd's Mass In Blue.

Kayleigh currently studies voice with Nicola Harrison in Oxford and is working towards the ABRSM Diploma in Performance, singing Mozart's Batti, Batti, O Bel Masetto from Don Giovanni, Faure's Les Berceaux and Gurney's Sleep among other pieces. She regularly attends conferences and workshops to develop her skills as a teacher and performer, including the ABRSM "Nurturing Potential, Encouraging Success" conference and the Estill "Common Voice Problems" workshop.

Kayleigh now teaches at Tudor Hall School in Banbury where she takes both individual lessons and vocal groups, preparing the students for concerts, exams, auditions and competitions. Since teaching at Tudor Hall, Kayleigh has also taken on positions as a visiting singing teacher at St John's Priory in Banbury and Towcester Rockschools.
