About the Event
Tameside vs Cancer is the brainchild of Dug McLeod. His very closest family struck by this terrible disease, he simply couldn't sit still and was determined to act and do something to help.
Inspired by the Manchester shows, I decided to replicate those tumultuous events, and condense them at Ashton under Lyne's Legendary live music mecca, The Witchwood. This event was sparked by the loss of my brother John, last year, and the recent bombshell that my wife has been diagnosed with the same illness.
I put out the call to Manchester's Elite, and they responded in their droves. I was overwhelmed by their generosity, and enthusiasm, and so it came to be.
Tameside vs Cancer brings together an abundance of talent, ranging from local unsigned acts to the hugely influential. An eclectic mix of indie, metal, ska, alternative rock, and dub, along with hugely respected DJs, to create a night that has something to appeal to everyone's musical palate.
Since the original idea, a second venue, Oliver's Bar, has now been added to the event with yet more acts.
There will be auctions for unique artworks, and other true one-off pieces of memorabilia.
All proceeds will be going to Christie's hospital.
